High Noon

Everton FCBack to blogging after a Greek break - even hacks have a holiday - and one thought had dominated my mind as High Noon approached...
It took a fair amount of agonising but in the end as someone aptly said, "my head ruled my heart" and I voted Yes (along with the 59.27% majority) in the fans' ballot over Everton's move from Goodison Park to a new stadium at Kirkby.
But while Evertonians ponder the result, and Yakubu's £11m-plus transfer from Middlesborough, they might also reflect on a real 'life and death' issue, the terrible, inexplicable shooting of young Rhys Jones, aged 11.
The club has responded here.

Bad news for North Walian Evertonians - it's a lot further and won't be accessible by public transport.
I wonder how many of us N Walian Evertonians voted for Knowsley?

True enough Anon, we will all have to find a new route on match days.
But the club has been stressing the public transport benefits of the Kirkby site.
I voted 'Yes' in the end because I believed that to progress, our beloved team had to match those clubs which have increased their revenues by providing better standards of accommodation for their supporters in modern stadia.
Alternative proposals seemed late in the day and sketchy to me.
There are still a few signficant hurdles to overcome despite the fans' vote and nothing is finalised until the concrete is drying on site.
We know this because we are Evertonians.
I don't know how many North Walians voted in favour, but I suspect that they were as split as the rest of us.
